First tutorial...

Now please dont be too hard on me if I mess this up but here is a way to make some modern style vases or candle holders out of simple, inexpensive cylinder vases.

Step 1: Gather your materials, you will need the following:

Hot glue or I use flora bond, comes in a tube, on floral aisle of craft stores

Grosgrain ribbon

Fabric cut into size of your choice
Cylinder vase

Scissors

Lighter
Step 2: Wrap the ribbon around the top of the vase and glue, cut outside edge and heatseal ends of the ribbon with lighter.

Step 3: Place vertical line of glue on back side of vase where you want the fabric swatch. Stick one side of fabric down onto glue, wrap fabric around and glue again to close being careful to line up the fabric and make sure its tight.

Step 4: Place a horizontal glue line directly above top and bottom of fabric on glass and then one on fabric edge, affix ribbon to glue lines making sure that the fabric edge is underneath the ribbon and not exposed. Heat seal ends. If you want, place a vertical strip of ribbon to hide your seams, heatseal ends before gluing and enjoy your creation!

  1. What a fabulous first project, tutorial and all! I bet this is for Cindy's wedding, they are gorgeous. Good idea to wrap the ribbon on the inside and outside of the fabric to hide ends completely.
